How To Organize A Car: 8 Sizzling Tips

If I had a nickel for every time I have gotten into someone's car and they have said something like, "Oh I'm sorry for all the mess, I just had my grandchildren", or "I'm really embarrassed, my car is so dirty", or "Please excuse the mess I just can't keep my car organized" I would be rich. Does this sound familiar to you?

When you get in your car do you have to sweep papers and dried food off the seat? Do you wish you could just get rid of the clutter once and for all?

I was buying car organizing products for a T.V. spot on organizing a car and as the eighth item was being rung up by the young cashier he commented that I must be buying wedding gifts. (Now wouldn't that be a great gift to give newlyweds?  I bet that is something they wouldn't have to return).

Do you feel like your car is your second home? Make it your dream home whether you're traveling to a business meeting or making a cross country trip with the kids. Get rid of clutter in your car by using the perfect organizing containers.

To keep a car free of clutter figure out what it is used for and set some rules.  If you don't allow eating in your car then that is the first rule. Early one Saturday morning I was the designated driver to the local garage sales. My friend's daughter was bundled in the backseat in a quilt. After an hour of driving around I found out she hadn't had any breakfast and was hungry.  Her mom said she wanted to bring something to eat but told her ‘no' because she couldn't eat in my car. That is not a rule in my car she got to eat.

The rule in my car is that whoever is eating has the responsibility to empty their own trash. Children can be taught this at a very early age.

Keep a simple waste paper can in the car to corral trash. Some fit over the bump in the backseat, others hang from the back seat and a simple plastic bag can always be kept on hand. To get rid of clutter the rule could be when leaving the car all paper and "stuff" has to be picked up and put in the garbage.

To make it easy for the kids to have their own things near them use over the seat organizers. This can make traveling fun and a lot less hectic. Children can reach their own treats, crafts and games without the parents in the front seat unfastening their seatbelts to reach items for the kids. Some of these organizers have small tables that fold down for the child to color or write on.

Perhaps your vehicle is a secondary office. When traveling to a business meeting or back to the office it is always a challenge to keep papers together and not sliding off the seat. Using a portable filing system that fits on the front seat with paper, pens, folders and other office supplies is the perfect solution. It can also be easily removed to the back seat if someone hitches a ride at the last minute.

For CD's or DVD's to be close at hand use an over the visor organizer. There are also holders that fit on the floor or in the consol. If you need a phone, or a pad and pen at your fingertips use a sticky pad that stays on the dashboard and keeps things from sliding around.

To corral sports equipment use mesh bags, sturdy plastic containers or boxes for equipment. There are handy organizers that are blocks that can be placed around grocery sacks or other odd shaped items to keep them from rolling around inside the trunk or back of an SUV or truck.

Getting rid of clutter can be fast, fun and easy by setting some rules, being consistent in enforcing them and using the right organizing tools.

Best Deals For Family Reunions

They say the family that plays together stays together. Why not gather your extended family and head to McCurtain County, Oklahoma for a fun-filled family reunion. One of the best deals for family reunions, the area around Broken Bow Lake and Beavers Bend State Park has something to offer everyone, from those who love the great outdoors to those who prefer shopping and fine dining.

Located in the breathtaking Kiamichi Mountains of southeastern Oklahoma, and only a short drive from Dallas/Fort Worth, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Shreveport, McCurtain County offers the family reunion adventure of a lifetime.

Be sure to invite all your relatives, because there is plenty of space for everyone. Beavers Bend Lakeview Lodge has 40 rooms each with a million-dollar view, sits high above Broken Bow Lake. Beavers Bend Resort Park has 47 cabins located in wood groves overlooking the Mountain Fork River. The cabins can sleep from two to six people and come equipped with kitchen/dining utensils, stove, refrigerator, linens, and central heat and air. Most cabins have fireplaces. None have telephones or televisions. PETS ARE WELCOME. The area offers many types of lodging, from rustic cabins to elegantly appointed log homes and affordable cabins nestled in the pines. Some of the larger ones sleep up to 20 people, making for a family-sized slumber party, shared chats over breakfast, or for telling family stories in front of the fireplace. The cabins have a range of amenities, including covered porches for watching the wildlife, hot tubs, barbecue grills, fire pits, satellite television, DVD players, and stocked fish ponds. Some allow pets, but it is always best to call ahead to verify your pets' welcome.

Beavers Bend State Park's pavilion is a great place for large families to gather, cook out and share photos, a luncheon, genealogy notes, or just spend time catching up. For groups of up to 50 people, the nearby Heritage Center has indoor meeting rooms available.

For those who enjoy the outdoors, a plethora of activities awaits. Swim, fish, canoe, kayak, paddleboat, play on jet skis or wave runners, parasail, or snorkel in the crystalline waters of Broken Bow Lake. Because the lake is surrounded by forest-covered mountains, the water is extremely clear, making it a wonderful spot for scuba diving. Those who want a more relaxing experience can try their hand at fishing for crappie, trout, largemouth bass, or channel catfish. Of course, McCurtain County offers the best rainbow and brown trout fishing in the the the south-central US.

If water's not your thing, don't worry. There are plenty of other things to do. You can take advantage of the deep, surrounding forests, complete with 100-foot tall ancient pines. It's the perfect place to have a scavenger hunt as one of your family reunion activities. Wildlife abounds, and if you go hiking on one of the many trails, you might see eagles, deer, squirrels, raccoons, and perhaps even a black bear. If you don't like to hike, climb into a saddle and see the forest from horseback. Several outfitters in the area offer trail rides for every kind of rider, from the beginner to the advanced. . If you would like to bring your own horse, some cabins have equine facilities, so you can pack a picnic lunch in your saddlebags and ride to your heart's content.

Golfers can try nearby Cedar Creek Golf Course, chosen by Golf Digest as the Best Municipal Golf Course in the state of Oklahoma. With its small green, the 16th hole, surrounded almost entirely by water, is considered one of the most difficult in Oklahoma.

For those who do not enjoy the outdoors, there are plenty of other things to do. Gift shops and antique stores in the nearby towns of Broken Bow and Hochatown carry handmade quilts, beaded Indian jewelry, primitive crafts, and more. Many area restaurants offer fine dining.

History buffs can check out the Museum of the Red River, which houses one of the most comprehensive Native American collections found anywhere. While there, see the interpretive exhibits exploring prehistoric, historic, and contemporary native cultures of North and South America and a gigantic, 90-million-year-old dinosaur skeleton.
