My sewing machine's "feed dogs" is not working properly?
I have a Janome 419S and i just tried using it after a 4 month hiatus. Unfortunately each time i try to sew, the cloth wont move! I have tried re-threading over and over again as well as oiling the machine as instructed in manual. The feeder seems to be moving as usual but somehow it wont transport the cloth as it should....
I also tried moving the feed dog switch but it wont budge. Is there perhaps a link?
I dont think the pressure foot is the cause...
I am guessing that it could be a "dropped" mechanism. If that is the case, is it possible/recommended to have it fixed at home by myself?
Any suggestions are welcome!
Thank you ;o)
I have done the whole pressure adjusting thing and followed the troubleshooting guide.....
I am currently trying to sew a cotton canvas curtain, of course with the right needle inserted...
Tq, so far....
I wonder if the lever or button that drops the feed dogs for free motion embroidery has been engaged...
Also take off the needleplate and do a thorough delinting. I've seen enough lint jammed behind and under feed dogs that they didn't have a prayer of moving.
