We worked in some dish detergent and popped it in our clothes washer with cold water (this followed the tag directions as well). Then we air dried. I've always been told that heat sets a stain. The stain is still there. Our clothes washer is rather small. So I'm sure part of it was that the machine couldn't fully reach the stain, but . . . is this hopeless? It's been a week. Has it set? Can taking it to a dry cleaners fix it or is there a better at home solution? Use Dawn dishwashing detergent, other brands are not as effective. Put it directly on the area ( really saturate the area ) and leave it for at least 4 hours. Or mix it with warm water 1 cup Dawn and 2 cups water and leave it soak for 6-8 hours ( use the bathtub). Then put it into the washer , wash it twice to remove the Dawn. Make sure the water is not really cold , room temp will be better than cold . Before drying see if the stain has gone. You are correct that heat from the dryer will set the stain. |
