![]() Which is the best personal Die Cutting Machine, the Xyron or the Cricut.? Im thinking of buying one but dont know which one is the best option. It all depends on what you want to do - and how big! Xyron Personal Cutters only cut in 3 set sizes to a maximum area of approx 4" square - great for one-off letters or images, whereas the current Cricut has a cutting mat measuring 6" x 12", so you really can cut something measuring almost 12" long. As of June this year, according to the Cricut website, the new Cricut Expression comes out, which has a 12" by 24" cutting mat. (My credit card has just run away screaming "hide me hide me...") Also, the Cricut will scale everything it cuts from 1" to 5.5" - there's a wheel on the front which you can select the size you need. The Cricut will automatically cut from your paper in the most economic way, eg if you have already used a piece and taken the cut bit out, the machine will automatically find the next unused bit of paper to cut. There are loads of cartridges out for the Cricut out already, and there are more planned. Each cartridge can cut between 2000-3000 images. Each alphabet can be cut in at least 6 different ways eg with shadows, or as odd shaped tags, or with different edges on them. There are currently not that many font or shape books for the Xyron. On the flip side, the Xyron Personal Cutter will set you back around £130 at the moment, wheras the Cricut is about £270. Pattern books for the Xyron are around £20, but the Cricut cartridges are around £70 each. Guess what I want to buy in June... |

Pazzles Electronic Cutter - A Must Have Scrapbooking Machine
The Pazzles Creative Cutter die cutting machine is jam packed full of great features. It is seriously worth considering buying one over the other types currently available!
I am going to put it down to the lack of marketing that has not seen the Pazzles cutting machine, become the success it could be. The Pazzles die cutter does a wonderful job and has been compared by many as being far superior to the ubiquitous Cricut Machine.
I have often wondered why the makers of the Pazzles Inspiration Electronic Cutter dont market their great product better. Is it because the Pazzles machine is made by the same company that developed the ubiquitous Cricut Machine? I am just speculating here But it would make sense that because the Cricut Machines have a massive range of add on accessories like the Cricut cartridges, the Cricut Jukebox and software etc, that when being compared to the simple Pazzles Electronic Cutter, which by the way has very few ongoing expenses, perhaps we can conclude that the cute Cricut line of machines are more actively promoted as they make a lot more money!
If you are in need of an electronic Die Cut Machine though to enhance your scrapbooking projects, definitely consider the Pazzles Inspiration Electronic Cutter. This wonderful die cutting machine lets you do amazing things all from the one machine like embossing, cutting, piercing, engraving and distressing on many types of materials. Imagine how those features will make your next scrapbook project stand better than your friends!
And the absolute best feature of the Pazzles Inspiration Electronic Cutter is that it requires no cartridges to be bought! When you buy a Pazzles Electronic Cutter, it comes with the software that gives you the ability to design and create your OWN images. You can get images from many external sources like you're your computer scanner, photos as well as the endless supply of images and graphics that one can download from the internet for free, or that you may already have on your computer. Fantastic!
The Pazzles Creative Cutter also lets you use any true type font available, to create your own great alphabet cut outs. This is a similar feature to the Xyron Wishblade Cutting Machine. With these fonts you can make great overlays, amazing titles and many more inspiring designs. The Pazzles Machine software, also lets you trace an image automatically as well as automatic welding. Imagine the time that will save.
However the Pazzles machine should not just be limited to scrapbooking. You can use the Pazzles Electronic Inspiration machine to make cards, iron on transfers of your own design, make your own personalized stamps and any other home project you can dream of. It sounds just amazing doesn't it?
So lets look at Pazzles compared to other die cut machines currently on the market. Buying the Pazzles upfront is certainly a touch more costly than the Xyron Wishblade, but it has the advantage of being able to do die cuts in one pass, as opposed to the Wishblade that often requires multiple passes. The Pazzles machine also lets you join your own fonts together, rather than having to use a separate software program to create this same affect when utilizing the Wishblade.
The biggest advantage the Pazzles has over Provo Craft Cricut range of die cutting machines though, is that it needs NO cartridges!! Okay I would have to admit that sometimes cartridges are great, as you can get licensed images already designed in great shapes and fonts, that would otherwise be difficult to find for free on the internet.
Considering the Pazzles Inspiration Cutter requires no cartridges and is a quality built machine, it makes me wonder why others would buy anything else! Okay, of course no machine is perfect. It does have one minor disadvantage over the Cricut machines. Similar to the Wishblade die cutting machine, both require being linked to a computer to operate. So if you dont own a laptop, portability does become a minor issue to some who like to get out and share their die cutting machine.
But honestly, it is seriously worth a look at this wonder die cutting machine. Imagine the possibilities with your next scrapbooking project.
